Where does the FEMSA Biennial take place?
The FEMSA Biennial became a traveling platform in its eighth year of existence. Its first headquarters outside of Monterrey was in Zacatecas. This year, the 14th edition will be held in Michoacán.

How can I participate in the FEMSA Biennial?
We invite you to take part in our programs:
Curatorial Program: for all audiences. This program will take place from October 2020 to February 2021, with a series of exhibitions in different museums and independent cultural spaces in the cities of Pátzcuaro and Morelia. It will include an exhibition of pieces from the FEMSA Collection, 24 commissioned projects by national and international artists, and five commissioned projects by local curators.

This program will be held periodically, from February 2020 to February 2021, through talks, concerts, workshops, and different activities featuring special guests in Morelia, Pátzcuaro, and Mexico City.

How are commissioned artists and curators selected?
As has been the case since the 12th edition, the FEMSA Biennial committee and curatorial team select artistic and curatorial commissions based on their relationship to the curatorial plan for that year’s biennial, as well as to the particular context of the host cities.

What role does the FEMSA Biennial play in the history of Mexican art?
The FEMSA Biennial has contributed to the recognition, institutionalization, and legitimization of contemporary art in Mexico since 1992.

What is the relationship between the FEMSA Biennial and the FEMSA Collection?
The FEMSA Cultural Program began with the goal of promoting and disseminating culture through art. In addition to the Biennial, it has a program devoted to developing research, exhibitions, publications, art loans, and high-impact national and international activities with respect to the FEMSA Collection. Over the years, this collection has been recognized as one of the most relevant reserves of modern and contemporary art in Latin America.
